The Coon Trapper's Kit from Black Mountain Tanning is purpose-built for trappers who work with raccoons. Raccoons are notoriously greasy, muddy animals — so we sized this kit accordingly. You get one 16 oz Tanner's Yolk and either one or two 16 oz Hide Mellower and Fur Soap products, giving you plenty of product to handle the heavy prep work that coon hides demand.

Hide Mellower — 16 or 32 oz — Raccoons are one of the greasiest animals you'll tan, and this animal-based bio solvent is up to the task. Pickle-safe and salt-stable, it cuts through even the most stubborn grease and softens dried hides with ease. AquaTrace™ Technology turns the solution a fine translucent blue so you always know it's active and working.
Fur Soap — 16 or 32 oz — Coons come in dirty. This heavy-duty cleaner is engineered for exactly that — tackling dirt, mud, and blood even in cold water, hard water, and high-iron conditions. SuspendX™ Technology keeps debris suspended in solution so it rinses away cleanly, and it's especially effective on heavily muddy animals like raccoons. The 32 oz size gives you the volume you need for multiple hides per season.
Tanner's Yolk — 16 or 32 oz — Inspired by the centuries-old egg tan process, Tanner's Yolk deeply lubricates hide fibers to produce exceptionally soft, supple, stretchy hides. Non-yellowing and non-oxidizing, it works perfectly as a stand alone fat liquor or oil tan. Simply mix with a small amount of water to form a thick paste, paint it on and air dry.
